From the initial consultation to installation, read on to see our process of providing quotes to our clients.
Check out this quick summary video of our process.
1. We receive your quote enquiry!
Once we receive our customer's inquiry, whether that be through the a phone consultation or through our get a quote form, one of our consultants or our Solar Appointment Scheduler will be in touch with you to schedule your consultation!
2. Your consultation!
Types of consultations:
- Phone consultation - the quickest and easiest way to get a quote. Our consultants discuss your energy usage and property specifications at length to determine a system design to best suit your needs.
- In-home visit (Brisbane, Sunshine Coast & Darwin) - one of our consultants will come to your home and provide you with a face to face consultation and a site inspection to provide the best suited system design for your needs.
- In-office meeting (Brisbane & Darwin) - come on down to one of our head office's and receive a face to face consultation, with complimentary coffee and a tour of our warehouse and facilities!
- Over Zoom/Google Hangouts - at GEM Energy, we embrace all forms of communication so if you would prefer, we are able to schedule a video conference call to provide you with a quote on quote "face to face" consultation from the comfort of your own home.
Far too often, the low upfront costs of the cheaper systems draw people in, but in the long-run they are left high and dry with a broken or under-performing system and no company left to help them. At GEM Energy we do things differently. We provide a consultative approach.
What questions are asked during your consultation?
- What is your address? - We use a satellite mapping program called nearmaps. We use this to design a preliminary system design and accurate quote. We design every system individually and specifically for the property specifications.
- What is your roof type? - Tile, Tin or other? We ask your roof type to determine the components of your system. There is a cost variation between tin and tiled rooves. We need to know your roof type to determine the best solution to fit on your roof and to fit your needs.
- What is your quarterly energy bill? - It is good when going into your consultantation to have your energy bill ready at hand. The price you are paying for energy will determine the size of the system we recommend to covering your energy bills with solar. With more and more people working from home these days, the average household's energy is going up. We need to know your bill to determine what the size of the system should be.
- What size system are you interested in? - Sometimes we have clients that have down prior research into solar and have a general idea of what components they want, the brands and the size of the system. Alternatively, we have clients that are looking for recommendations. We ask this to make sure our quote is aligning with what you are wanting on your home.
- What is your best contact number? - We ask this to get in contact with you for your consultation, to schedule your consultation and to discuss any questions your have.
- What is your best email address? - We ask this because you send your quote via email!
Why do we ask for these details?
We do not provide a cookie cutter, one size fits all system design or quote to our clients because every roof is different and everyone's needs are different. Every system is custom designed specifically for your roof by our in-house consultants. We need to ask these questions in order for our consultants to gather enough information to quote you accurately.
3. Your Site Inspection!
After deciding to proceed with your quote, your consultant will then hand you over to your Project Manager who will be your point of contact for the remainder or your solar installation journey. They will be in touch with you to schedule a site inspection at your home pre installation. This is done to ensure that the design matches the specifications of the roof for the installation to go smoothly. This is conducted by one of our electricians and can occur while you are home or while you are not.
4. Your Installation Is Now Scheduled
After your site inspection is complete your project manager will be in touch to schedule your installation day.
5. Installation Day!
It is now the day of your installation. Your online monitoring will be set up and a final handover will be conducted. For an average sized system, the installation process usually takes no longer than a day but if you have a larger system the installation may be over two days. This will be discussed with you from you Project Manager.
